CHALLENGE
Huober Brezel, celebrated for its diverse range of crunchy pretzels, pastries, and distinctive specialties, sought to enhance efficiency throughout various stages of its production process. As maintaining consistent quality became increasingly crucial, they identified opportunities for improvement in their operations.
Two primary applications required attention. The first involved the application of a release agent onto metal trays, a vital process to prevent products from sticking and to ensure smooth, continuous operations. The second required precise spraying of water onto the dough, ensuring that toppings adhered correctly. Both tasks demanded accuracy to secure product quality and streamline production efforts.
Previously, Huober Brezel operated with a basic fluid delivery system utilizing air atomizing nozzles. Although functional, this configuration posed several issues:
- Significant overspray and mist
- Limited control over the volume and distribution of spray
- Time-consuming cleaning of surrounding areas
- Inconsistent application of water, leading to improperly adhered toppings

Release Agent Application
To prevent the dough from sticking, an oil release agent is applied to the baking trays as they travel along the conveyor belt.
For this task, our spray specialists recommended the AutoJet® F1850+ Spray Controller, combined with a 20L mobile pressure tank and a hydraulic PulsaJet® spray header. This setup proved to be efficient and precise.
The PulsaJet® nozzle, featuring a stainless-steel tip, ensures consistent and accurate fluid application, effectively minimizing waste, cutting costs, and eradicating overspray or mist.
The AutoJet® F1850+ controller employs closed-loop system control to automatically manage flow rates, guaranteeing the exact application of the release agent.
Water Spray Application
For the water spray application, the AutoJet® F1850+ controller, together with a spray header and a liquid preparation unit equipped with pressure regulation, facilitates precise application, ensuring that salt adheres uniformly to each snack.
RESULTS
We identified multiple areas for process enhancement. The overarching aim was to eliminate overspray and mist, achieve better spray distribution along the conveyor belt, and reduce cleaning intervals in the production area.
The implementation resulted in the complete elimination of overspray and mist, leading to a drier production floor and improved spray distribution.
On-site testing of both systems confirmed the reliability and effectiveness of the equipment for the customer.
This solution has been in operation for nearly two years, and Huober Brezel has expressed great satisfaction with the results achieved by our equipment.
